Double-Hurray! UNAM among the best 100 Universities in the world!

.

Well, it happened just as predicted in 2005!: The TIMES has published its 2006 World University Rankings:

UNAM went up from place 95 in 2005 to be 74th BEST UNIVERSITY IN THE WORLD!
Double Hurray for the PUMAS! I am so proud and happy of my first ALMA MATTER!

At the same time, Durham University went down from being number 83 in 2005 to number 132.
Poor Durham! But...bloody hell, I heard that Durham got rid of some academic-parasites this year (I feel like writing some names here but I think I better resist that temptation), so they must go up in the rankings next year without that heavy burden of DO NOTHING people. I hope so. Durham deserve it!.

-------------------------

For the first time my first ALMA MATER; Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) earned a place among the Best 100 Universities in the world in 2005!

The TIMES published recently its World University Rankings for 2005 and UNAM went up 100 places in the rankings from being the number 195 University in 2004 to a place as the 95 best University in the world (ahead of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Michigan State University, Glasgow University, Liverpool University and Colorado State University among others from developed countries that were below the "Máxima casa de Estudios de México").

UNAM is the only Latin American University to reach this ranking ever and its 100 points improvement from 2004 its a clear indication of one of the best periods for the "Pumas".

By the way, Imperial College, University of London (my second ALMA MATER) was ranked number 11 best in the world (it remained in the same place as it was in 2004 and as it has been for many years) and Durham University (my third ALMA MATER) reached number 83 in the world (a 45 places of improvement from its 2004 ranking). Durham also was named University of the Year in the UK in 2005.

As it has been for many years now, Harvard (USA) , MIT (USA), Cambridge (UK), Oxford (UK) and Stanford (USA) were ranked the best five universities in the world (in that order).

Congratulations UNAM!
I am looking forward for the day that UNAM will be ahead of DURHAM!
Come on Pumas! It's only 12 points for 2006! You can do it!
