Keep in mind that paperwork and applications for postgrad studies in Ecosur open up in the middle of May and close down in the middle of August. I have to have the selected candidate students by early May at the latest, so that they can start paperwork & on line applications with enough time. Courses and scholar year start in January 2019 for both masters and PhD students. Remember I will be on my sabbatical year abroad untill August 2019 -and possibly even longer for the whole 2019-)
Estoy aceptando solicitudes para estudiantes de doctorado que quieran trabajar y realizar su tesis en el área de ecología de enfermedades. Especialmente interesado en estudiantes que quieran trabajar en la forma de identificar reservorios de enfermedades infecciosas zoonóticas (virales, bacterianas y parasitarias) en poblaciones de animales silvestres y domésticos en el sureste de México. Deseo profundizar en los estudios sobre el papel de los perros domésticos de libre-rango en la transmisión de enfermedades en la interfase con la fauna silvestre. También continuar los estudios sobre la salud y enfermedades de tres especies de marsupiales (Didelphidae) en el sureste de México. Los estudiantes interesados pueden escribirme desde ahora para comenzar la comunicación, intercambio de ideas para proyectos de tesis y posible aceptación y papeleo en Ecosur, aunque en el 2018 estaré tomando un año sabático fuera de México, para comenzar en Enero 2019.

I am accepting applications for Ph.D. candidate students that might want to work in the field of disease ecology in southeastern Mexico. I am particularly interested in receiving applications of students interested in identifying reservoir species of infectious diseases (viral, bacterial and parasites) in both wild and domestic animal populations. I am particularly interested in deepening on the studies of free-ranging domestic dogs as links for the transmission of infectious diseases to wildlife as well as continuing the ongoing research on the health and diseases of three species of opossums (Didelphidae) in southeastern Mexico. Those interested need to know that I will be on a sabbatical leave overseas this year, but we can start chatting and discussing possible thesis projects to start studying with courses in Ecosur in January 2019.
