Sergio Guerrero-Sánchez, master of sciences student, recently finished his courses and begin the field work for his thesis on a study about the zoonotic and anthropozoonotic risk in marsupials and medium-sized carnivores in Calakmul.
So far, during the first three months of field work, Sergio and the rest of the team trapped and sampled more than 60 possums (of the three species), three gray foxes, one domestic dog, two ocelots and one jaguarundi in Calakmul! Great work!

Sergio Guerrero-Sánchez, estudiante de maestría en ciencias en Ecosur, terminó recientemente la parte escolarizada de sus estudios y aprobó con éxito su protocolo de tesis, comenzando así su segundo año y trabajo de campo para obtener el grado con el estudio sobre el riesgo zoonótico y antropozoonótico en carnívoros y marsupiales silvestres en Calakmul Campeche.
En los primeros tres meses de trampeo ya van cerca de 60 marsupiales de las tres especies, tres zorras grises, un perro, un jaguarundi y dos ocelotes atrapados!
